Banned Books & Kiss-Ins: A Talk with Queer History Boston
Thursday, October 29, 6:00 to 7:30 PM
Arlington Council on Aging, 27 Maple Street, Ground Floor
Attacks on LGBTQ+ expression are nothing new. From Puritan-era laws policing clothing to 20th-century efforts to censor films, plays, and books, our community has faced generations of pressure to stay hidden. Teachers were pushed into the closet, queer publications were restricted, and anything outside cisgender, heterosexual norms was met with resistance. And still, we survived and thrived.
In honor of LGBTQ+ History Month, join us and Queer History Boston for a presentation about how our community has fought censorship and demanded to be seen.
6:00: Mingling and community connection
6:30: Presentation and conversation
Come early to say hello, stay for the history, and bring a friend!
